The partnership between The Belinga Foundation and Tara Sport, the organizational structure of the Douala International Marathon, was sealed this October 2022, during the 5th edition of this international competition.
Sport has always been a vector of mobilization, awareness and emulation. Through the soccer tournament “Mireille Gracia Belinga” The Belinga Foundation has for some years accompanied the talents of the commune of Mengong. This support has continued with the delivery of gifts and various equipment to young schools in the same locality, as part of the FENASSCO school games. The foundation is continuing on the same path through its involvement in the Douala International Marathon.
The Belinga Foundation is now one of the partners of the company Tara Sports organizer of the legendary Douala Marathon.
Relaunched in 2017 after several years of dormancy, the Douala International Marathon, which is becoming a major athletics event on the African continent, was this year in its 5th edition this weekend from 28 to 30 October 2022 in Douala, the economic capital of Cameroon. Among the articulations, there are four events: the marathon (42.195Km) the half-marathon (21.097 km) the family walk (3X3km) and the marchaton (a competitive walk of 10km).
A great opportunity for The Belinga Foundation
Sport is said to be the first medicine. It is therefore understandable that The Belinga Foundation, whose promotion of HEALTH is one of the 5 pillars, found it judicious to associate itself with this event which in its own way contributes to the fight against many diseases.
In the end, it is always Kenya that wins.
As in most of the previous editions, Kenya came out on top in the 5th edition of the Douala International Marathon. Tarus Simion KIPLIMO and LAGAT Mercy CHERUTO of Kenyan nationality won respectively in men and women. The event chaired by the Minister of Sports of Cameroon, Prof. Narcisse Mouelle Kombi ended this Sunday in Douala. More than 4500 participants in several disciplines took part in this major event of athletics in Cameroon.
