LOGBOOK DAY 9 SUNDAY, JULY 24, 2022,BIA SO MENGONG FESTIVAL.
It’s difficult to feel confident at the halfway point, that somewhere in your head a clock is not counting down. Just as it is difficult after the apotheosis of the day before not to feel confident and to say to oneself that the probability of failure is less and less strong.
Especially since today, like all the next days, is a busy day, very busy indeed. A new activity is entering the festival schedule: women’s soccer.
From 10 o’clock onwards, the girls will enter the fray, and a total of four teams have answered the call of the foundation, a record for this region still strongly impregnated by ancestral customs and religion, where women’s main functions are procreation and family maintenance. This is because #TheBelingaFoundation is aware of the symbolic value of sport to improve the status of women and thereby enable them to empower themselves and fully play their role as key actors in development.
The popular attendance generated by the opening match between FC Etondo girls and Tout Puissant d’Endam girls is a sufficient indicator of the strong potential of women’s sports in our community.
On the boys’ side, the tournament continues with the start of the third day.
The other great attraction of the day was the final of the gospel competitions, in which the choir was the winner.
As always, it is late at night and almost by forceps that we have to make the numerous public understand that the activities can’t go on all night long and that as valiant as they are, the volunteers and the team of #TheBelingaFoundation also need to sleep.
