The tradition of tall trees awakening, echoing drums, will be renewed very soon with a desire to cross the borders of Mengong.
Women singing songs of the land, young people lining up for traditional dances, elders gathering around the fire, this great cultural fair is near. In the air, the scent of palm wine mingles with the sounds of xylophones. The time of an evening, the collective memory breathes again: Evening au Village is back.
Initiated and led by The Belinga Foundation, this cultural activity positions itself as a means of promoting, preserving and valuing cultural values and ancestral traditions. From October 2025 to June 2026, the Soir au Village caravan will pass through the municipalities of Mengong, Biwong-Bané, Biwongs-Bulu, Ngoulemakong and Sangmélima, bringing together dozens of villages around the same ambition: to revive the words and actions of the ancestors.
A project to renew with the soul of the village. In a changing world, Evening au Village offers a rare space for exchange and transmission. The vigils of the past, where we sang, danced and told the story of the clan, come back to life thanks to this initiative.
"We want every young person to regain the pride of their culture, to know their roots and to understand the richness of their heritage," often explained the promoter of The Belinga Foundation, Pr Steve Belinga, who, true to his theory of multiplying effects, believes that “Culture is not a relic, but a living force that unites and inspires.”
Beyond the celebration, these evenings are also moments of intergenerational dialogue, where stories, proverbs, dances, traditional dishes and symbolic rituals meet.
They remind everyone that tradition, far from being frozen, remains a source of identity and collective energy, as well as a priceless treasure.

When the party becomes school.
Behind dancing and socializing, "Evening in the Village" is also a school of life. Around the fires, the elders pass on to the young the founding narratives, the values of respect, solidarity and unity. Women prepare the dishes of the terroir, artisans exhibit their creations, the griots recall the clan's history.
"These evenings aren't just entertainment." They awaken the collective consciousness and remind everyone of the dignity of our cultures," said one contestant during last season. Thus, over the months, The Belinga Foundation weaves a web of union between villages, between generations, between past and future.
