Evening in the Village: A Cultural Success in Enyeng Esse

Saturday, January 18, 2025, will be a memorable date for the populations of the villages of Enyeng, Mefiep, and Nnemeyong, who welcomed the team from The Belinga Foundation for their traditional cultural evening, “Evening in the Village”.

The evening was filled with numerous activities, including culinary arts, where twenty women and girls showcased traditional dishes cooked according to ancestral rules. The stories and proverbs shared during the evening allowed for the transmission of lessons from the cultural heritage, while the genealogical tree retraced the lineage of the villagers, providing them with a sense of their ancestral roots.

The history of the village was also presented, highlighting the rich cultural heritage of the region.The event took place in the presence of traditional authorities, including His Majesty Mendo André, chief of the village of Mefiep, His Majesty Essam, chief of the village of Nnemeyong 3, and the representative of the chief of Enyeng, Mr. Mendo Etienne. The staff of The Belinga Foundation delivered a speech of encouragement and solidarity, urging the populations to continue to conquer their culture.”Night in the Village” is The Belinga Foundation initiative that aims to preserve and promote the material and intangible cultural heritage of the region.
