You had to get up early on Wednesday to make sure you didn’t miss anything. At around 6 a.m., the day kicks off with the marathon. If you had to sum up the race, you could call it the fall of kings. Indeed, it was disillusionment for the champions of this traditional marathon. In the women’s category, for example, Okono Brenda, who has been the queen of the marathon for almost two years, didn’t even make it onto the podium.

Men

As soon as the marathon is over, it’s time to sprint for the festival village, where the « Vacances sur les ondes » team is already setting up. Like last year, the 100-strong team led by Anicet Siesther Essiane will grill the entire festival team and the town’s leading personalities.

The other major attraction of the day is the arrival in Mengong of the fourth cultural group invited as part of the festival theme « Unity and Diversity ». This was the Gourna group from the Sudano-Sahelian cultural area.

Like all the groups that preceded it, it made a remarkable appearance.The evening ends with a host of entertainment and a DJ night.
